However, the extent that their situation changed during the period of 1939 and 1945, and the change that resulted due to new opportunities has been largely debated.
There are a number of secondary sources that delve in this topic- however, many portray the limits of the progress made by women during this period. Therefore this extended study will analyse the progress made by women in their roles and positions, as well as examining the limits of the progress. It will also look in depth at many aspects of female life during this period, and how male oppression acted as a restraint, during a period which saw a society united in war.
